Tristan Fraser has received a much desired commitment to the University of Connecticut NCAA Div 1 program for the 2022-2023 season. The Nanaimo Clippers acquired Fraser from Langley Rivermen for Tyler Schleppe early in the 2020-2021 campaign, expecting him to add a veteran presence and scoring. He has not disappointed as he leads all scorers last year on the Clippers with 16 points in 20 games during the Pod season. This year, Fraser is sitting in the top 20 of all skaters in the BCHL at 16 points in his first 16 game of the season. In his rookie season in 2019-2020, Fraser scored 13 goals and added 21 assists for 34 points in 56 games including 3 power play goals. Previous to the BCHL, Fraser finished off his CSSHL (Hockey Academy League) career with an eye popping 70 points in 34 games including 20 goals in the 2018-2019 season.
Head Coach/GM Darren Naylor noted; “Tristan is a high-end talent who immediately helped out the team in the leadership capacity and on the scoresheet. Tristan is a hard-working, powerful skater with the nose to the net. I can say with certainty that the University is getting a proven leader who will be a great contributor to their program over his years at the University.”
Wes Mussio, Owner of the Clippers added; “I have watched Tristan since his days at the BWC and West Van Hockey Academies and he definitely has turned into a marquee player for the Clippers. The University of Connecticut will be very pleased with their acquisition because he’s a proven leader, unselfish player and has elite-level skating abilities with a nose to the net. Tristan is one of our 20-year-old players that has really stepped up this year helping the Clippers to stay near the top of our division and league.”
